Draw the conversation area first
Mark the sofa and chair footprints on the floor, then walk the route through the room. A curved sofa needs space around its widest point; it does not always fit where a straight sofa fitted. Position the table within comfortable reach of the seats and keep the main route outside the conversation group. Test the layout with everyday bags, pets and visitors in mind.
Give pale colors different textures
