Every page should answer a real question, help prevent a costly mistake, or give the reader a clear next step. We do not publish filler solely to increase page count. A calculator must explain its assumptions and result, while a guide must offer original examples, useful context, and realistic alternatives.
Product-selection criteria
Recommendations begin with the room and the need, not the commission rate. Depending on the category, we consider:
- Scale, dimensions, capacity, placement, and compatibility with the intended room.
- Function, materials, construction details, upkeep, replacement costs, and expected daily use.
- Safety considerations, installation requirements, warranties, returns, availability, and overall value.
- Whether a product adds something distinct or merely duplicates a stronger recommendation.
We explain material limitations or tradeoffs when they are known. We also say when buying less, choosing a simpler alternative, or consulting a qualified professional is the more responsible recommendation.
Research, testing, and claims
Unless a page explicitly states that we personally tested an item, recommendations are editorial assessments based on available manufacturer or retailer specifications, intended use, design integration, maintenance requirements, reputable references, and comparison with alternatives. We do not describe a product as personally tested when it was not.

Sensory and wellness content
People experience light, sound, movement, texture, and regulation differently. We use flexible, dignity-centered language and avoid treating one person’s preference as a rule for everyone.
